Democracy Camp 2022

The Democracy Camp 2022 intends to unite 50-60 young people between 15-25 years old being member of a youth parliament, youth party, youth organisation in the political field or who are otherwise interested in politics. They come to Switzerland from 6 different countries (Switzerland, Germany, Liechtenstein, Austria, France and Italy) to take part in the Democracy Camp. During the 5 days of the camp their main goal is to exchange and discuss on best practices in (political) youth participation and to form a strong network of motivated young "democracy activists".

After a practical insight into Swiss politics (visit of the Swiss parliament and of local activities in the context of the International Day of Democracy) in the capital Berne, the participants will come together in a remote camp house on Rigi mountain in the heart of Switzerland for a versatile program on political participation. They will discuss bottom-up how they want to participate, what participatory forms and projects they already know from their own environment and where more resources should be used to develop further offers. Discussion formats are variable, including speed debating, workshops and others. The participants shall also have the opportunity to prepare and lead parts of the program themselves. Sports and cultural activities will complete the program.
